ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Engines were revving and grills were smoking in Alexandria as the Rollin Vettes Car Club hosted its first-ever Car Show and BBQ Cookoff on Saturday, August 16.

The event took place from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Rick’s Auto Sales Two. Dozens of cars were on display, including classic cruisers, low-riding trucks and —of course— Corvettes.

Car show contestants also received trophies in their respective categories.

Bradley Lewis with the Rollin Vettes said the event was about bringing something new to the area and giving kids a reason to dream big.

“It’s very inspiring for young children to see all these different cars and let them know, hey, when you get older, you can have these things,” Lewis said. “Just do the right thing. Go to school, obey your parents and hav
