COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) - Governor Henry McMaster authorized Saturday the deployment of 200 South Carolina National Guardsmen to Washington, D.C.

According to the governor’s office, the guardsmen will support federal law enforcement activities under President Donald J. Trump's executive order to Restore Law and Order in the District of Columbia.

However, should a hurricane threaten South Carolina this season, or another natural disaster, Gov. McMaster said they would be required to return to the state.
