PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — Two paddleboarders were injured after being hit by a tube on Gourdneck Lake on Saturday, police say.
The Portage Department of Public Safety Fire and Police Divisions says it was dispatched to a lake for a boating accident on a report that a paddleboarder had been hit by a boat and suffered chest injuries.
The department says that Kalamazoo County Dispatch Authority discovered that the two people on the board had been hit by a tube that a speedboat was pulling.
According to officials, the boat helped get the paddleboarders back to shore. Crews helped treat the victims. One of them was taken to the hospital in stable condition and the other was treated at the scene and released.
