The Rangers placed pitcher Jon Gray on outright waivers Thursday, and the right-hander went unclaimed by any other club, according to a report by The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal .

Gray cleared waivers at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, according to Rosenthal. Gray went on to allow four runs in 2 1/3 innings during Texas’ 14-2 loss to the Blue Jays later that afternoon.

The 33-year-old, who is in the final year of a four-year, $56 million deal, didn’t debut this season until July 23 after he fractured his right forearm midway through Spring Training, when he was struck by a comebacker. He has about $3 million remaining on his contract.
