SANTA CRUZ — Fremont’s Nathan Ly and Santa Cruz’s Tesla Profumo won titles in the no-wetsuit division at the 50th Santa Cruz Roughwater Swim, a 1-mile race around the Santa Cruz Wharf, on Saturday to kick off 2025 Open Water Weekend.

Ly, a 15-year-old who attends Amador Valley High in Pleasanton, edged San Francisco’s Patrick Ransford, 29, for the no-wetsuit title.
