Riverhounds SC had been nearly unbeatable this season in USL championship action when it scores the first goal.

Riverhounds goalkeeper Eric Dick made an aggressive play that turned disastrous when he knocked a pass in the box right onto the foot of Charleston Battery’s Aaron Molloy. With a vacant net to work with, the 2024 All-USL Championship first-team selection slammed the shot home to give the visiting Battery (14-4-2) a 2-1 victory against the Riverhounds (7-7-6) in front of a sellout crowd of 6,115 at Highmark Stadium.

It was a rare miscue for Dick, the reigning Golden Glove winner who entered the night tied for the league lead with eight clean sheets.

“Off the ball, we have not, in my opinion, been good enough all year,” Riverhounds coach Bob Lilley said.
