The Yankees and Cardinals sent their respective aces to the hill on a scorching Saturday night in St. Louis. Naturally, this game quickly devolved into a slugfest. Max Fried once again rode the struggle bus despite facing a team he’d dominated in the past, but the Bronx Bombers picked him up big time. Ben Rice knocked in seven runs to match a career high, but just about every other Yankee hitter contributed to a 12-8 win which sealed a second straight series victory.

Like last night, the Yanks got multiple runs on the board right away. Trent Grisham singled on Sonny Gray’s first pitch, then a walk to Rice gave Aaron Judge an RBI opportunity.
