Rochester, N.Y. — Jonah Tong’s electric Triple-A debut guided the Syracuse Mets to a 5-0 win over the Rochester Red Wings on Saturday night at Innovative Field.
The win snapped Syracuse’s three-game losing streak. The Mets remain in first place in the International League second half standings.
After five scoreless innings between Syracuse and Rochester, the Mets broke open the scoring in the top of the sixth inning.
Jett Williams led off the frame with a triple, and Ryan Clifford ripped an RBI single into right field to put Syracuse ahead, 1-0.
