VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Saturday would have been Rolin Hill's 36th birthday. Loved ones came from near and far to honor his life doing one of his favorite activities — gathering as one big family.
Hill's family and a local organization came together for Family Field Day at Red Wing Park.
"To know Rolin was to know that big smile. He smiled so hard his eyes were closed even though they were still trying to be open because he was smiling so hard," said Chane Hill, Rolin's sister.
The Hill family continues to seek justice for Rolin, who died several days after being restrained at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center in 2024.
Five deputies were fired after a medical examiner ruled Hill's death a homicide. Three former Virginia Beach sheriff's deputies were charged with second-degree murder
