At 1:19 a.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory valid between noon and 7 p.m. for Ulster and Dutchess counties.
The weather service states, "Heat index values up to 95 degrees to 98 degrees expected."
"Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses," explains the weather service.

Stay hydrated: Make sure to drink plenty of fluids.
Seek cool shelter: Opt for an air-conditioned room to stay comfortable.
Avoid sun exposure: Avoid direct sun exposure, protect yourself and check on vulnerable relatives and neighbors.
Child and pet safety: Do not leave young children and pets unattended in vehicles when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
