There are delays of up to 40 minutes on the M5 this morning, Sunday, August 17, as two lanes have been closed. This is due to an "infrastructure defect" on the M5 northbound near Avonmouth Bridge, causing exceptionally heavy traffic between Portishead and Bristol, according to National Highways.
National Highways South West said: "Two lanes (of four) are closed on the #M5 northbound #AvonmouthBridge between J19 #Portishead and J18 #Bristol due to an infrastructure defect.
"Delays of up to 30 minutes and approximately four miles of congestion on approach."
Roads and traffic monitoring website, Inrix said: "Long delays and two lanes closed due to emergency repairs on M5 northbound from J19 A369 Martcombe Road (Portishead) to J18 M49.
