A hit-and-run driver may have opened a door that the “harm reduction” industry and the ruling NDP government would prefer to stay closed.

Sunshine House has been operating the Mobile Overdose Prevention Site (MOPS) in Winnipeg since Oct. 29, 2022, based out of a recreational vehicle usually found in the Logan and Main Street area by the Disraeli Freeway. Health Canada granted an exemption to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, which means law enforcement cannot arrest drug users on the premises of the site, “which provides a safe, dry and warm place for people to inject drugs. Outside the vehicle, there is a tent where people can smoke illicit drugs.”
