Smoothies and fruit juices have had a renaissance in recent years. As more of us struggle to find a way to cram in our five-a-day and stay hydrated, the benefits of ready-made smoothies are alluring and are now a regular presence on out supermarket shelves.
It wasn't always the case. Back in 2015, Plenish juice founder Kara Rosen revealed her daily diet to The Telegraph in a feature titled ' My day on a plate ' - which, to the casual reader, seemed like a joyless, overly-prescribed regime of blended juice at intervals throughout the day... with consequences on the toilet that can only be imagined. It went viral on Twitter, as the Telegraph's own television writer Anita Singh quipped, "Have a Twix, love", while nutritionist Dr Nandita Iyer posted: "I'd rather die than live like this".
