Ed Kiziukiewicz, an 82-year-old Bay Head Beach lifeguard, has been saving lives at the Jersey Shore for decades. In fact, he’s the oldest male open water lifeguard in the world , according to Guinness World Records.
But Kiziukiewicz, who has trained and mentored countless young lifeguards over the span of his 63-year career, says he’s drawn back to the beach each summer for the chance to keep learning.
“I’m a teacher and I’m a learner,” said Kiziukiewicz, a retired high school math teacher. “The ocean and nature have something to show you. There’s something to learn every year.”
