A low off the North Carolina coast has a low chance of forming, and a new area of interest in the central Atlantic has been tagged, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Those are in addition to Hurricane Erin, which is expected to stay off the U.S. coast.

Northwestern Atlantic

A broad area of low pressure located a couple of hundred miles off the coast of North Carolina is producing limited showers and thunderstorms well to the east of the center.

As of 8 p.m. shower activity remains limited. Upper-level winds are unfavorable, and development is no longer expected.

The low should continue to weaken over the next 24 hours while drifting east-northeastward.
