Suffolk County Police today arrested a Sayville teenager for stabbing a 17-year-old during an altercation at Smith Point Beach in Shirley. Alexander Murphy was on the outer beach of Smith Point Beach in Shirley when he stabbed a 17-year-old Selden teenager in the back with a knife during an altercation at 6:07 p.m. The victim, who is not being identified because of his age, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious but not life-threatening injuries. Murphy, 18, was also taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was charged with Assault 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip upon being released from the hospital. Anyone with information on this incident
