A pilot bicycle lane project on Barnette Street and 10th Avenue is set to wind down by mid-September, according to city officials.
In May, contractors re-stripped Barnette Street from 1st Avenue to Airport Way, along with a portion of 10th Avenue to field test ways to improve bicycle use and safety in downtown Fairbanks.
City Engineer Bob Pristash stated at Monday’s city council meeting that the pilot project, scheduled for early September, would include the removal of flexible delineators on Barnette Street.
“We will have to repaint the lanes before the snow starts, so it’s coming down shortly,” Pristash said.
