The Round Lake Area Park District is hosting the grand opening of Hero Park from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 16.

The $2.5 million playground of the fully accessible park , 2041 N. Orchard Lane in Round Lake Beach, is designed to remove physical and social barriers so all children, with and without disabilities and/or critical illnesses, can play side by side with their peers and families.
