Dementia Friendly Coalition eyes former Kitty Hawk Police Station as headquarters

At the Aug. 4 Kitty Hawk Town Council meeting, Jan Collins, President of the Outer Banks Dementia Friendly Coalition (DFC), asked the Town if the DFC could use the former Kitty Hawk Police Station on West Kitty Hawk Road as its new headquarters.

The Coalition currently offers wide-ranging training to community members including restaurant and pharmacy staffs as well as police and EMS workers. It even works with veterinarians, asking them to be aware of confusion in pet owners. Support for caregivers is also an important part of the DFC’s mission.
