According to CEBL commissioner Mike Morreale, the league’s championship weekend format is likely on its last legs.
“When you start, you try to build in a little bit of a buffer and the host being there helps you out, like the Memorial Cup model, allowing you to de-risk stuff a little bit, but it does open the door to competitive issues and that kind of stuff,” Morreale told The Winnipeg Sun. “As we have grown, we have looked at alternatives and you will likely see some of those going into 2026.”
