CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Cranston Police Department said that a man was arrested on Aug. 15 by the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force for allegedly threatening an 18-year-old and stealing a gun from them.
Jose Rivera was charged with first degree robbery and larceny of a firearm.
Police said that Rivera was allegedly contacted by the 18-year-old acquaintance on Aug. 10 and was asked to help “enact retribution” against an individual who had assaulted the acquaintance at the Dominican Festival in Providence.
The 18-year-old had told police he had taken his uncle’s 9mm handgun from a safe to use against the individual.
