Spanish national team forward Alberto Abalde has been forced to leave the LaFamilia training camp ahead of EuroBasket 2025 after sustaining a muscle injury, as officially announced by Spanish Basketball Federation.
Abalde suffered a myofascial tear in the short adductor muscle of his left leg during Spain’s recent match against France. Medical examinations confirmed a grade II injury, preventing him from continuing preparations with the national team.
The Real Madrid player is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks while undergoing recovery treatment, and will therefore miss 2025 EuroBasket.
Abalde’s absence comes as another blow for head coach Sergio Scariolo and the defending European champions’ ambitions, with Eli Ndiaye previously also withdrawing due to injury.
