Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson (91) walks the field at Cincinnati Bengals practice in Cincinnati on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025.

From near un-blockable to on the trade block?

The Cincinnati Bengals and Trey Hendrickson have been in a contract stand-off this offseason, one that may end with the star pass-rusher elsewhere. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Bengals are listening to offers on a deal surrounding the 2024 NFL sacks leader.

No deal is imminent and a trade could present a "challenge," Rapoport adds. Negotiations between the two sides have seemingly gotten contentious in recent months. Hendrickson has voiced his displeasure with the lack of movement from Cincinnati brass since at least April.

"Communication has been poor over the last couple months," Hendrickson said in April. "They have not communicated with my agent directly. It's been something that's been a little bit frustrating."

Former NFL linebacker Manti Te'o, Hendrickson's former New Orleans Saints teammate, said in July that he was told by Hendrickson the contract offer from the Bengals was "atrociously low."

The Bengals have handed out a boatload of money this offseason, with Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase leading the way with hefty contract extensions. Cincinnati was also embroiled in a lengthy contract dispute with first-round pick Shemar Stewart, which was resolved in July.

Hendrickson, currently under contract through 2025, led the NFL with 17.5 sacks in 2024, following an identical 17.5-sack campaign in 2023.
