ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The DeKalb County police officer killed in the line of duty during a shooting outside of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters will be laid to rest Friday, his family said.
David Rose, 33, died on Aug. 8 while responding to a call involving a reported gunman near Clifton Road and CDC Parkway on Emory University’s Atlanta campus.
Rose is remembered as a beloved family man and dedicated public servant.
He joined the DeKalb County Police Department in September 2024 and graduated from the police academy in March 2025.
Before joining the force, he served in the US Marines. He was also a jailer in Gwinnett County.
Rose leaves behind two young children and a wife who is pregnant with their third.
