The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in Nevada has reported details on two new wildfires burning in the northern and eastern parts of the state.
The Chin Creek Fire was initially reported on Thursday, August 14 and is located about 50 miles north of Ely.
It's currently estimated at 648 acres in size with no containment at this time.
The BLM says that crews are working to contain spot fires and reinforce control lines, and that workers are mopping up on both the west and north flanks of the fire.
The Cottonwood Peak Fire is burning about 4,034 acres roughly three miles north of Tuscadora.
This fire also has no containment, and crews say behavior of this fire is extreme, with uphill runs and flanking being seen. The fire could potentially expand by 5,000 acres in the next 12 hours, a
