BOOKER, Texas (KFDA) - The Booker Kiowas finished last season with a 10-2 overall record as well as taking home the district championship. This year, they are finding a new identity after losing a large portion of their team.
While most would consider losing ten seniors last year a negative, three-year head coach David Biddler sees it as an opportunity.
“We graduated some key people so we’re definitely excited for other guys to step up,” he said.
One senior, running back/safety Brayland Gonzalez, capitalized on that opportunity, stepping up earlier this summer.
“I had to step up in leadership this year...[I] had to get my teammates up and going,” Gonzales said. “[I] had to get them up here for two-a-days practice. [I had to] make sure they were knowing what to do and give them coaching
