Roy Keane and Micah Richards traded blows on Manchester United’s defending after the former club captain blamed defeat against Arsenal on “schoolboy” goalkeeping.
The pair served up one of their pantomime fallouts on Sky Sports’ coverage of the opening weekend of the Premier League season as Keane attacked a gaffe from stand-in goalkeeper Altay Bayindir that produced the only goal of the match.
Bayindir had flapped at a corner to allow Riccardo Calafiori to nod in on the goal-line. But as the Irishman ranted in the studio over the goalkeeper’s failure to punch the ball clear, Richards waded in to say he was not adequately protected by Mason Mount – prompting Keane to shout at him that the game is “big boys’ stuff”.
