HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) - The Hartford Police Department sought to dedicate a street to Detective Garten who was killed in the line of duty in 2023.

Police asked the public to sign a petition to rename High Street in Hartford to ‘Bobby Garten Way’.

Detective Robert C. Garten made the ultimate sacrifice on September 6, 2023 when he was hit by a car while responding to a call.

“Detective Garten’s dedication to public safety and tireless efforts to improve the lives of those in Hartford are worthy of lasting recognition. Renaming a street in his honor is a meaningful way to pay tribute to his life and the sacrifices he made for our city. It will serve as a constant reminder of his bravery and the risk that police officers take every day to keep us safe,” Hartford Police wrote in a statement
