ARCADIA, La. – A group of Bienville Parish residents opposed to proposed plans for a saltwater injection in their community are not giving up their fight.
Volunteers will be at the Jamestown Post Office starting on Monday and throughout the week to accept signatures on a petition signaling their opposition to a permit sought by Brickyard Trucking for construction of the injection well. The petition will be hand-delivered to the state Department of Energy and Natural Resources in the coming weeks.
A public hearing was held on July 30 in Arcadia where DENR officials allowed public comment on the permit application. Then, the citizens were told the deadline for public comment would end in seven days instead of 30.
