CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — Nearly a decade after two Carroll County teenagers were killed in a crash with a Georgia State Patrol vehicle, the man behind the wheel is going back on trial.

At the time, Anthony Scott was a Georgia State Trooper.

He was fired and later indicted on charges including second-degree vehicular homicide, serious injury by vehicle, speeding and reckless driving.

Today, Scott is the mayor of Buchanan in Haralson County.

The Sept. 26, 2015 crash happened on Highway 27 near Holly Springs Road outside Bremen.

Troopers said Scott was driving 90 mph in a 55-mph zone before slowing to 65 mph at the time of impact.

He collided with a car turning left, carrying four teenagers.
