SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Highs will be a few degrees warmer on Monday but still below seasonal normals.

In the valley, temperatures will top out in the upper 80s on Sunday. In the foothills, highs will reach the low 80s. The Sierra can look forward to a quieter day with highs in the 70s.

The region will continue to warm as high pressure builds in from the east, gradually pushing valley highs well above seasonal averages by the middle of next week and close to daily records by the end of the week, with highs breaking into the 100s.
