LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The wait for a Waverly High School Athletics Hall of Fame is finally over. At halftime of the Waverly football game on Sept. 5, the commencement ceremony for the Hall of Fame will take place.
The inaugural class includes two teams and 10 individuals that will be inducted to start the school’s new Hall of Fame.
The two teams are the 1981 and 1982 Girls’ Golf teams that both took home state championships.
Major League Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher John Smoltz will headline the class alongside legendary wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad.
Former Michigan State hockey player and coach Danton Cole is also set to be inducted as well.
The coaches going in are Shirley Cook. Phil Odlum and William Taft. Layne Ingram, Kelly Holland, Marcus Taylor, and Jeff Stump round out the
