A woman has tragically died after getting into difficulty in a reservoir in Manchester .

Emergency services were called to the Strinesdale Reservoir at around 4pm on Sunday. A rescue mission was launched by the river, which is situated on the A62 between Oldham and Delph.

The fire services specialist water incident unit was deployed to the scene. Following an intense search, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a woman's body was later recovered at around 6.25pm.
