The StarNews Athlete of the Week Poll is back.

High school sports returned across North Carolina last week and Wilmington-area athletes wasted no time delivering standout performances.

Each Monday this fall, fans can cast their votes for Athlete of the Week. Voting runs through Thursday at 11:59 p.m., with winners announced Friday.

Nominees come from our top performers list as well as submissions from coaches and fans. To nominate an athlete, email stats to sports reporter Michael Cuneo at mcuneo@gannett.com by Friday at 11:59 p.m.
