A 24-year veteran of the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office has filed a sex discrimination lawsuit, alleging she was passed over for promotions and subjected to retaliation after she revealed misconduct by her coworkers. Detective Sgt. Kimberly Baeli faced "systematic gender discrimination, retaliation for protected activity, and a hostile work environment," according to the lawsuit she filed in state Superior Court in Newton. "Ms. Baeli’s ordeal reflects a deeply embedded culture of favoritism toward male officers, suppression of complaints, and retaliation against whistleblowers."
The complaint, filed June 18, names the prosecutor's office and Sussex County as defendants, as well as Nicholas Elmo, the office's acting chief, and Sahil Kabse, the acting prosecutor.
