The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) offers State Pensions that suffer with arthritis up to £441 per month through Attendance Allowance.

An estimated 20 million people across the country have arthritis or other similar conditions that affect the joints but many may not be aware they can claim financial help.

Attendance Allowance provides weekly payments valued at either £73.90 (lower rate) or £110.40 (higher rate).

The benefit isn't means-tested, remains tax-free and gets paid every four weeks, totalling either £295.60 or £441.60 - reaching £5,740.80 across the 2025/26 financial year.

The amount someone gets depends on their required level of care, with the benefit created to assist those of State Pension age with everyday living costs.
