Igrew up during the 1980s and ‘90s, and I was unknowingly spoiled with parental time and attention. I had no idea how blessed I was as a child until I took a vacation with my children last week. It was a vacation I had put off for years because everything got in the way: the pandemic , my father’s sickness, work, and a gubernatorial campaign — none of which were insurmountable. OK, the pandemic was rough, but we could have worked around the others.

I regret not prioritizing vacation, but you don’t have to.
