BATTLE CREEK - Behind a large field, chasing the title of best golfer in the county, the 48th annual Calhoun County Amateur Golf Tournament began Saturday, Aug. 16 at Binder Park Golf Course with Day 1 action.
The 62-player field of the 2025 Cal-Am tournament included previous champ Chris Voegler, as well as several golfers looking to take the title.
Voegler, who won the event for the first time two years ago, led after the first day with a round of 65. Paul Koski was three shots back at 68 with James Staab sitting in third with a 70 and Tyler Shore in fourth at 71 as the only golfers under par. A group of two followed with a 72, including Ryan Voegler and Alex Greenwood.
John Blasius was first in the Senior Division after carding a 73, followed by Doug Chapman with a 74, Steve Martin w
