Drivers through Center City Philadelphia should be ready for some lane closures along Vine Street starting Monday as a new safety project will lead to several months of lane closures along the roadway.

Starting Monday, PennDOT officials have announced, crews will begin work on an $8.5 million project that is intended to improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists along Vine Street in Center City Philadelphia.

Officials said that the project will see lanes reduced from three to two along Vine Street on both directions between 8th and Broad Streets, along with the installations of upgraded traffic signals, ADA-compliant ramps, bump outs and bike lanes.
