EAST GRAND FORKS – Lend A Hand Up will host a benefit for Thomas Krenelka at the VFW to help his family pay for medical bills.

The benefit will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.

“Lend A Hand Up makes the most of people’s time and gifts to help their neighbors,” said Jeana Peinovich, LAHU director.

At only 6 years old, Krenelka had back surgery in December 2024 then was diagnosed with sarcoma cancer in January 2025 and had another surgery to remove it, according to LAHU’s press release. The proceeds of the event and the family’s website will go toward paying off medical bills.

Krenelka’s benefit will include a gun raffle and silent auction to help raise money. There is also a fundraiser online where people can donate.
