Three people are dead and nine are injured after multiple shooters opened fire in a New York City lounge, the New York City Police Department says.

On Sunday, Aug. 17, at 3:27 a.m. local time, police received reports of a shooting, New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a news briefing. The shooting took place at the Taste Of The City Lounge in Brooklyn's Crown Heights neighborhood, when police found 12 victims ranging in age from 19 to 61 years old.

"Gun violence of this magnitude, it really scars a community and a city," New York City Mayor Eric Adams said during a news briefing .

Who were the victims?

One man, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, and two others, ages 27 and 35, were pronounced dead at the hospital, according to Tisch.
