A former Miss Universe contestant died earlier this month after an elk hit the car she was riding in.

Kseniya Alexandrova, of Russia, died on Aug. 12. She was 30.

Alexandrova died in the hospital due to complications from brain injuries she sustained in the July car accident, People reported.

“It is with deep sorrow that we announce that our colleague and friend, model Ksenia Alexandrova, passed away last night,” Alexandrova’s modeling agency, Modus Vivendis, said in a statement, in Russian, posted to Instagram . “Ksenia was bright, talented and extraordinarily bright. She knew how to inspire, support and give warmth to everyone around her. For us she will forever remain a symbol of beauty, kindness and inner strength.”
