Ricky Martin and Busta Rhymes will be recognised with prestigious accolades at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.
On Monday, it was revealed that Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Martin will make history as the first ever artist to receive the ceremony's Latin Icon Award.
Meanwhile, rapper and producer Rhymes will be honoured with the inaugural MTV VMA Rock the Bells Visionary Award in celebration of his "boundary-breaking cultural impact and indomitable musical career".
The announcement comes more than 25 years after Martin became the first male Latin artist to win Best Pop Video at the 1999 VMAs, also walking away with the most awards on the night.
He further cemented his place in music history that year when his global hit Livin' la Vida Loca was nominated for Video of the Year, making him the first Latin artist to be nominated in this category.
Rhymes, real name Trevor Smith Jr., first appeared at the VMAs in 1997 and has taken to the stage several times since. Most recently, he was named Global Icon at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) in 2024.
Both artists are set to perform at this year's ceremony, which will be hosted by LL Cool J at New York's UBS Arena on 7 September.
Other announced performers include Sabrina Carpenter, J Balvin, Alex Warren, and Sombr.
Leading the nominations is Lady Gaga with 12 nods, followed by Bruno Mars with 11 and Kendrick Lamar with 10. All three are in contention for the night's top prize, Video of the Year.
