Parents have been urged to stop using a brand of magnesium gummies made for children after the product was found to contain an undeclared prescription-only medicine. Watchdogs have since warned that the gummies, which claim to help reduce tiredness and boost the immune system, could cause certain health side effects.

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has warned against the consumption Nutrition Ignition Kids Magnesium Glycinate Gummies and is working with online retailers to remove the gummies from sale.

The warning and recall comes after testing of the product revealed that it contained undeclared melatonin - a prescription-only medicine which can cause drowsiness, headache, dizziness, and nausea if consumed in high quantities.
