KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Royals have designated veteran outfielder Mark Canha for assignment.
The Royals announced the move Monday afternoon after Canha returned from his rehab assignment in Omaha.
The 36-year-old had a .212 batting average, 1 home run and 6 RBI in 113 at-bats with the Royals this season. He spent time on the injured list twice this season due to hip and elbow injuries.
Canha was acquired by the Royals during Spring Training in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers. He joins Hunter Renfroe as an outfielder that Kansas City has designated for assignment this season.
He was designated for assignment as the Royals have gotten better production out of their outfield following trades that acquired Adam Frazier, Mike Yastrzemski and Randal Grichuk ahead of July
