The United States has announced its backing of European security guarantees for Ukraine to prevent another Russian invasion if a peace deal is reached, though the extent of U.S. involvement remains unclear.

President Donald Trump addressed the possibility of security guarantees during a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office Monday. "We're meeting with seven great leaders of great countries, also, we'll be talking about that. They'll all be involved. There'll be a lot of help. When it comes to security ,there's going to be a lot of help. It's gonna be good. They are the first line of defense because they're there - Europe - but we're going to help them out, also we'll be involved," Trump said.
