MAUMEE, Ohio — Maumee City Council unanimously selected Chelsea Ziss, a former mayoral challenger on the side of the citizens' recall effort and candidate in the November general election, to fill the vacant seat on its seven-person body at a meeting Monday evening.

Ziss was sworn in immediately after the vote, which was council's third attempt to agree on who should fill the seat left open by Scott Noonan's departure last month . Council stalemated twice on her and Daniel Thomas, a medical equipment delivery driver, before going into executive session in its second meeting without a decision and returning with a unanimous choice.
