SAYREVILLE, New Jersey -- The man convicted of murdering a New Jersey councilwoman in 2023 was sentenced Monday to life in prison.
In June, a jury found Rashid Ali Bynum guilty of shooting and killing Eunice Dwumfour two years ago in her car in Sayreville.
"Your mother should be disgraced that she brought you into this world. She needs to take you out of it," Eunice's sister Priscilla Dwumfour said.
Her family appealed to Judge Joseph Paone for justice for why her killer should be put away for life for the loss they feel every day.
"I met my wife, pastor Eunice. I call her my angel, my love. I call her my heartbeat," her husband Eze King said.
Prosecutors say the two knew each other from the church where she served as pastor.
The 30-year-old councilwoman's death sparked a manhunt,
