California Governor Gavin Newsom, U.S. Senator Adam Schiff

Fox News host and former White House press secretary Dana Perino criticized California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) online posts, urging him to curb his all-caps, Donald Trump-like posting.

“You have to stop it with the Twitter thing. If I were his wife, I would say you are making a fool of yourself, stop it… He’s got a big job as governor of California, but if he wants an even bigger job, he has to be a little more serious," she said on Fox News.

Newsom’s recent social media posts mirror President Donald Trump's signature style, complete with eye-catching capitalization, insults, and nicknames like “Tiny Hands” and “Low IQ”— as he mocks Trump's moves and promotes his own redistricting initiative.

Critics quickly pointed out the irony in Perino’s criticism, noting that Trump himself popularized this exact approach.

Reacting to a clip from the segment, Newsom's press office wrote on the social platform X: "ALMOST A WEEK IN AND THEY STILL DON'T GET IT."

Writer Hemant Mehta said: "She’s so close to getting it."

"While I think it's all childish...Newsom IS just mimicking Trump's style and coherence to illustrate how ridiculous it is... Trump advocates must have something against mirrors...they don't take a look in one very often," wrote a user on X.

"This double standard is crazy," wrote a user.
