The San Francisco Giants head south tonight to begin a four-game series against the San Diego Padres.
Taking the mound for the Giants will be left-hander Robbie Ray, who enters tonight’s game with a 2.98 ERA, 3.73 FIP, with 152 strikeouts to 56 walks in 148 innings pitched. His last start was in the Giants’ 5-1 loss to the Padres last Tuesday, in which he allowed four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and a walk in six innings.
He’ll be facing off against Padres left-hander Nestor Cortes, who enters tonight’s game with a 5.71 ERA, 7.91 FIP, with 17 strikeouts to 11 walks in 17.1 innings pitched. His last start was also in last Tuesday’s game, where he was on the winning side, allowing just one run on six hits with six strikeouts and a walk in four and two thirds innings.
